This year, the collaboration will focus on an ambitious new project to support the development of 15 rural secondary schools in Sierra Leone, providing quality education to over 1,500 children each year, as well as teacher training and the establishment of a community agriculture project to help sustain the school.
The evolution of the partnership between Plume and Street Child has been marked by significant achievements. Last year’s #PlumeStrong Cycling Challenge 2023 (#PSCC23) successfully raised over €550,000, aiding Street Child's efforts to restore education for children affected by the Turkey-Syria earthquake. This year, as a result of our renewed partnership, the focus shifts to Sierra Leone, a country where access to secondary education in rural areas remains a critical need. All of the funds raised during the 2024 #PlumeStrong Cycling Challenge (#PSCC24) will benefit Street Child’s work in Sierra Leone.
Lucinda Dannatt, Director of Development & Policy and Co-founder of Street Child, said:
“We are delighted to be partnering with Plume for a third consecutive year, continuing our mission to build educational opportunities for children who are at the greatest risk of being left behind. This year’s collaboration will raise at least €500k to enable over 1,500 children to access quality education each year. This partnership underscores our shared commitment to creating lasting impact through education, empowering communities, and giving children the tools to write their own futures.”
Fahri Diner, Founder and CEO of Plume, shared his thoughts on the ongoing partnership:
“In 2020, #PlumeStrong began as an internal initiative during the pandemic to support the mental and physical health of our global workforce. Four years later, we have raised over €1,300,000 and, through our partnership with Street Child, we have been able to extend our impact globally. In September 2024, we will be kicking off the #PlumeStrong Cycling Challenge in Zurich with our friend and ambassador, Tadej Pogačar, the cycling superstar, two-time Tour de France champion, and recent winner of the Giro d’Italia. I could not be prouder of what this team has achieved and am excited for what our future holds.”
The #PlumeStrong Cycling Challenge 2024 will be held from 2-6 September. Riders will start in Zurich, Switzerland and finish in Venice, Italy, covering a distance of 824 km and traversing famous mountain passes including Passo Pordoi, Passo Falzarego and Passo Zoncolan along the way.
