Get inspired

At Street Child we love to celebrate our incredible supporters and their brilliant fundraising efforts.

We want to say a big thank you to absolutely everyone, like Hannah and Elliot, who choose to fundraise for us. Every penny is integral to the work we do in ensuring children are safe, in school and learning. As a charity we depend on successful fundraising to keep our programmes running and allow us to reach even more children in need of support and access to education.

hannah's story

Since 2015, I have created a calendar each year using photos of nature that I have taken and sold the calendars to raise money; to date, just over £5,000 has been raised through this project. I originally wanted to run a half marathon to raise money for charity, but after breaking my leg this was not possible.

The calendar project was then born as an alternative fundraising idea, and every year I continue with no intention of stopping. The 2022 theme will be: 'community and belonging'. I first heard about Street Child several years ago through my church, St. Thomas, Norwich. I thought it was a fabulous charity, and I love the ethos and aims. They are doing such amazing work helping thousands of children around the world, and I am so pleased to be able to support them in this way.

elliot's story

On Tuesday the 7th of December, the University of Nottingham's Song writing Society held its inaugural Winter Showcase in aid of Street Child UK. The event sought to engage with all songwriters and musical performers within the University, allowing each person, or group, to perform a song. Throughout the evening, members and friends of the society were able to see covers and original performances of songs from a wide range of different genres ranging from pop to hip/hop, and R&B to Christmas songs! The event was a resounding success, and will most definitely be a, if not the, highlight of the song writing society's year.
