FORGOTTEN CRISES: BANGLADESH

5 years on from the Rohingya refugee crisis hitting the headlines in 2017, over 50% of the Rohingya refugee community in Cox’s Bazar, are children.

This is Hajera's story.

Street Child's work

Street Child are working tirelessly to support over 17 local organisations to provide education, protection, and mental health services for children like Hajera. We have already helped to reach 4,965 children with these services but with 80% of Rohingya children currently out of school, thousands more need our help.

Street CHild's impact

Our female and male-only child friendly spaces are not just a space to learn but a space of safety. These spaces provide children with direct access to a case worker from their community who is trained by a dedicated psychological support worker. This provides a safe and confidential space for children to seek support.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

While we continue to overcome the challenges in Cox’s Bazaar, 1.1 million Rohingya refugees are being forced to leave their home again and are being relocated to Bhasan Char Island. Bhasan Char Island has a rapidly growing population of 50,000 refugees and Street Child is the only International NGO with a presence supporting this community. These children deserve to be safe, in school and learning. We have the knowledge and experience of our work in Cox’s Bazar since 2018 to know the infrastructure needed to ensure this. We need your help to scale up our programmes in Bhasan Char.

With your help we can protect these children.

Do not forget them.
